Indoor Air Quality

While we all know that our environment is suffering damage, it is also important that the air we breathe indoors is clear of any contaminants.  Since most of spend a lot of our time inside, the indoor air quality is very important to our health and well being.  Many different things can happen when indoor air quality levels go down, including increased headaches, fatigue, allergies, and memory loss.  The most common forms of indoor air quality pollutants include radon, molds, carbon dioxide, asbestos, and legionella.  Some of these elements occur naturally while others are the result of man made materials.  It is important that you are aware of all of these things so you can be sure you live or work in an environment with a safe level of indoor air quality.  Some research has shown that the air inside many places is less safe the air outside.

Fortunately, there are things you can do to improve the indoor air quality where you work or dwell.  An air purification system is a great way to start.  These purifiers help to filter out all of the contaminants that are found inside, and can help the air stay clean and make it easier to breathe.  Dehumidifiers can help prevent molds from appearing or spreading.  Being sure all vents are clean and that all moisture is not present are also ways to ensure better indoor air quality.  Regular testing of things like radon can be a great preventative measure.  Install a carbon monoxide detector in your home so you can be alerted if levels ever get too high.  Keep your environment clean and dry.  Change out air conditioner and heating filters on a regular basis.  All of these things are easy, proactive ways you can improve your breathing, immune system, and overall quality of life every day.
